How to convince you to explore a web site dealing with … literature? By telling you that nothing is like it seems and that nothing is more exciting. Not convinced? ‘Listen’ to these words, then:‘In reading great literature I become a thousand men and women and yet remain myself. Like the night sky in a Greek poem, I see with a thousand eyes, but it is still I who see. Here, as in worship, in love, in moral action, and in knowing, I transcend myself: and am never more myself than when I do’.   C. S. Lewis, An Experiment in Criticism (1961)

You cannot get lost in navigating this section of the website: there is a ‘lighthouse’ waiting for you to enlighten your exploration and a blind guide, the ‘lightousekeeper’ Pew, to take you by the hand and enchant you with his weird stories. But there is also an old half-crazy ‘mariner’, if you prefer, or even a ‘madwoman’ or a very cruel femme fatale, in case you are a man. Come on, open the door of your imagination and sail with us!

‘Voices and their echoes’ is a journey of exploration across special ‘seas’: those represented by a number of texts from Italian and English literature, as well as Philosophy, ranging from the 14th century to our days. A long journey with many meetings, some of them happy, others mysterious, frightening or enlightening. We hope you do enjoy your own exploration of this section of the web site, with its four alternative routes: start from the one that appeals more to you and… have a good journey!
